Everyone is welcome to join us for our monthly Artist Block Party!!

This month we are featuring local artist, Emily Murphy: Emily is an multi-disciplinary artist and educator from Bismarck, ND. In 2019 she graduated from MSU-Moorhead with a bachelors degree in Communication Arts and Literature Education and Political Science and in 2021 received a masters degree from MSU-Mankato in Educational Leadership. Although, she did start college as an art major and took a few foundational classes her freshman year. Other than that, she is self-taught. Her passions are teaching struggling readers skills to become strong readers and creating. Whether that be acrylic or watercolor painting or beadwork and embroidery, Emily’s love for learning and creating is evident in her ability to teach herself any craft she’s interested in. She credits a lot of her learning to her talented husband Jackson, who is a graphic designer. In her art, Emily is inspired by her own photographs and memories, especially that of the often overlooked beauty of North Dakota. She particularly loves color and it's a major focus of her art.
